Peer Support Supervisor
Position Summary
The Peer Support Supervisor supervises the work of subordinate staff providing services to program participants. Supervisory responsibilities require executing activities essential for day-to-day program operation to include selecting, directing, coordinating, disciplining, promoting, and evaluating staff; maintaining case and program consistency; and establishing quantity and quality control.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Supervises, monitors, and coordinates the day-to-day operations and work of Peer staff. Supervisory responsibilities include interviewing, selecting, training, assigning, evaluating, promoting, and disciplining staff.
Conducts individual conferences with Peer staff and makes suggestions for improved work by assessing the strengths, weaknesses, and abilities of staff to develop effective skills.
Reviews or evaluates cases for adherence to contract and program regulations and departmental policies as part of quality assurance requirements.
Reviews correspondence, reports, recommendations and other materials on complex cases and consults with management as needed.
Attends and conducts on-site meetings, conferences, staff development sessions, and training.
To share and practice your knowledge of peer roles and practices with the Peer Specialist.
To serve as the mediator and liaison between the agency and Peer specialists.
Provide supervision to the Peer Specialist to increase morale and improve retention to achieve the agency's mission and objectives.
Provide opportunity of learning and exploring education of job related functions to empower ,motivate and increase worker satisfaction
Provide educative tasks, focused on professional development through training, modeling and structuring learning experiences.
Provides individualized training and support
Provides venue for supporting the Peer Specialist professional development
Provide supportive supervision that are tasks focused and give feedback on work,discuss personal reactions to the work, validate and provide encouragement and promote self- care practices.
Evaluate work performance through direct observation, co - working, assessments, and reflection, all in collaboration with the peer worker
Interviews complainants and adjusts, if appropriate, consistent with departmental policies and procedures.
Interprets and applies laws, policies, procedures, rules and regulations of The Lodge.
Prepares reports, and correspondence.
May conduct independent evaluations with Peer Specialist staff for mentoring and training purposes as needed..
May plan and coordinate special projects; conduct on-going studies of departmental operations, testing the implementation and evaluating the effectiveness of policies and procedures to recommend improvements.
May represent The Lodge at conferences and on matters relating to various services of the program.
May prepare related written reports.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
Certified Substance Abuse Counselor, preferred
Registered substance abuse certification
Knowledge of principles and practices of employee supervision and staff development, including interviewing, selecting, training, assigning, evaluating, promoting, and disciplining subordinate staff;
Knowledge of Laws, rules, and regulations governing mental health programs;
Knowledge of Interviewing and information gathering methods and techniques;
Knowledge of Case management methods;
Knowledge of Current socio-economic conditions, trends, and issues affecting County communities;
Knowledge of Dynamics of neglect and abuse, substance abuse, mental health issues, crisis intervention, and challenges for children, adults, the elderly, minorities, and persons with disabilities;
Knowledge of Individual, family, and group behavior dynamics;
Knowledge of Standard office applications, including computer software such as Microsoft Office and G Suite.
Ability to supervise, interview, select, train, assign, evaluate, promote, and discipline subordinate staff;
Understand, interpret, and apply departmental policies, procedures, and guidelines applicable to The Lodge;
Ability to demonstrate effective leadership; integrate new ideas and contemporary approaches;
Ability to provide guidance to subordinate staff in the utilization of mental health concepts and methodologies;
Utilize empathy and objectivity to resolve client issues and maintain confidentiality of client information;
Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with people of various educational, socio-economic, and cultural backgrounds;
Ability to compile various records and information accurately;
Ability to demonstrate and maintain a high degree of initiative, maturity, integrity, accountability, and good judgment.
